Meet the Founders
James Peterson
Founder & Director of Site Operations
James is a co-founder of Highland and lives and works on the Sunshine Coast. He brings hands-on experience across every stage of construction, from early site work and framing through to cabinetry and detailed millwork. As Site Operations Lead, he oversees trades, works directly with engineers and local municipalities, and keeps renovation and build projects moving on schedule. Known for his calm, steady approach on site, James focuses on solving problems as they arise and making sure the work is done properly, down to the details that matter most to homeowners.
Matthew Dunton
Founder & Managing Director
Matt lives and works in the Fraser Valley and brings close to two decades of experience across residential construction and project leadership. His background includes hands-on building, project coordination, and overseeing complex renovation and new build projects. As co-founder of Highland, Matt is responsible for overall operations, project planning, and client communication, ensuring each renovation or custom home build is clearly scoped, well managed, and completed to a consistent standard. He is closely involved throughout the process to make sure expectations are clear, decisions are made early, and projects stay on track.
